Apprentice Vehicle Technician

We are currently looking for Apprentice Vehicle Technicians within LGV and HGV to join our AVC team based in Longtown.

In this role you will undertake a 3-year, apprenticeship qualification at level 3 in either ‘Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle)’ or ‘Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Qualification’. You will be required to commit to the 3 year apprenticeship, attending the apprenticeship providers programme to learn and develop your skills and knowledge, applying this learning when you are back in the Longtown workshop.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, who are keen to learn the motor trade and develop their skills, knowledge and experience. You will need GCSE’s in Math and English at grade C/level 4 as a minimum for the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity to undertake the relevant key skills for the right candidate.

In return we will offer you a great working environment, where you will be supported to succeed in your qualification, enabling you to support the technician team in all aspects of vehicle maintenance activities. As part of the 3-year apprenticeship you will be working Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. You will also, dependent on which qualification you undertake, be required to either attend a week’s residency in Derby every 2-3 months, or attend day release every week, as part of the apprenticeship programme.

Our technician apprenticeship role offers competitive rates of pay, a minimum of £7.40 per hour within your first year of apprenticeship. Rising to a competitive rate from year two onwards depending on duties you are able to perform gained through your learning. For someone with more experience, who is perhaps looking to get their qualification, and can provide valued added duties immediately, we will consider a higher rate of pay within the first year of apprenticeship, rising from year two onwards as applicable.
