Light Vehicle Mechanic / MOT Tester - Uddingston G71 6PB



  • Carry out servicing, Mechanical, electrical repair and preventative maintenance of our customer

  • You will also diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical defects and related ancillary equipment in compliance with company and legislative requirements

  • Complete all relevant paperwork and documentation to the required standard

  • Provide on the job training for other Technicians/Trainees as required

  • Continually identify possible warranty claims and escalate these to the appropriate person

  • Reduce non-scheduled work and vehicle visits to the location between Preventative Maintenance

  • Prepare and present customers vehicles Annual Test

  • Carry out brake tests

  • Ensure shift workload is completed to the highest standard

  • Ensure work area is cleaned after completing work, ready for the next job

  • Ensure that unplanned work is completed and resolved to a conclusion satisfactory to the customer

  • Communicate vehicle status through the escalation process, foreman, service reception and the customer

  • Ensure all customers are dealt with promptly, efficiently and courteously

  • Remain up to date with the latest vehicle technology, DVSA inspection standards, changes in MOT legislation and working practices



  • You will have relevant technical experience gained from working in a relevant workshop

  • Engine and Electrical diagnostic experience

  • Experience in replacing major engine and transmission components (including cambelts and clutches)

  • Min Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Motor Vehicle Studies, Irtec App(essential not limited to)

  • Good GCSE or SQA results (essential)

  • Hold an MOT licence (desirable)

  • Member or associate member of a trade organisation (IMI or IRTE)

  • IT Skills (essential)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience

  • Engine and Electrical Diagnostics

  • Some HGV / LCV knowledge would be an advantage

  • Driven to ensure completion of your work in a timely, tidy and efficient manner

  • Holding a clean UK driving licence (Desirable)

  • Attention to detail (Essential)

  • Excellent communication skills (essential)

  • Strong inter personal skills (essential)

  • Ability to work on own initiative & part of a team (essential)

  • Excellent organisational skills (essential)
