Light Vehicle Technician – AVC, Bothwell Park Industrial Estate, Uddingston, Glasgow
To work in Armstrong Vehicle Centre’s new workshop facility providing customers with service and repair of cars, vans and light commercials vehicles. On-site MOT testing for Classes 4-7. Licence to carry out MOT testing would be preferred but not essential.
JOB PURPOSE
The main purpose of this role is to work closely with the team of technicians to provide customers with service and repair of their cars, vans and light commercial vehicles. Some HGV vehicle and trailer experience would be preferred but not essential.
The ideal candidate will be trained to NVQ/SVQ Level III and will be competent in prioritising and working with little supervision. They will be self-motivated, and trustworthy.
DUTIES

Carry out servicing, mechanical and electrical repair; and preventative maintenance to our customer’s vehicles.

You will be required to carry out diagnostics and ensure vehicle repaired in compliance with company and legislative requirements

Complete all relevant paperwork and documentation to the required standard

Ensure work is completed to the highest standard and work area is cleaned after completing work.

Communicate vehicle status through the escalation process, foreman, service reception and the customer

Ensure all customers are dealt with promptly, efficiently and courteously

Remain up to date with the latest vehicle technology, DVSA inspection standards, changes in MOT legislation and working practices

Service and repair of electric vehicles training will be given
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Min Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Motor Vehicle Studies

MOT licence (preferred but not essential)

IT Skills (essential)

Minimum of 3 years’ experience

Some HGV / LCV knowledge would be an advantage

UK driving licence

Attention to detail

Excellent communication skills

Ability to work on own initiative & part of a team
WHAT WE OFFER

Permanent, Full-time post working 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and alternate Saturdays, overtime as and when required.

Rate of pay £15.91 per hour/£16.72 for MOT test qualified
