Night Traffic Planner

Job Purpose

 

To efficiently plan ensuring the most efficient use of vehicles and drivers whilst taking account of the relevant legislation. All related information must be accurately recorded onto company and other IT systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for planning within the G/ML postcodes.

  • Responsible for ensuring efficient utilisation of vehicles, drivers and other resources while taking account of WTR and Drivers Hours Rules, vehicle weights and dimension and the Road Traffic Act.

  • Ensure all delivery’s routed in the most efficient way while ensuring agreed schedules are met and data recorded.

  • Work with colleagues to monitor / push trunking operation through hub and deal with any issues that arise.

  • Communicate with drivers and traffic teams as required.

  • Monitor & update relevant systems as required.

  • Complete relevant traffic reports as required

  • Work with other WMA departments, Palletforce Members and Network.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed (Essential/ Desirable)

Good geographical knowledge of G / ML postcode area

Previous experience in high volume traffic planning

Previous Pallet Network experience advantageous

Ability to work to deadlines

Ability to work under pressure

Good administration skills, with high attention to detail

Good IT skills

Good communication skills, both verbal and written

Flexible approach to work demands

Be a team player

Proficient in Microsoft packages

NB: Your duties may vary from time to time within the broad remit of your role and grade. You are required to undertake any such reasonable and appropriate duties. Work location is subject to discussion with immediate line manager and the requirements of the business.
