Class 1 Tramper Driver – Longtown/Penrith

We are currently looking for Class 1 Tramper Drivers to join our General Haulage or Milk Reload teams, based out of Penrith or Longtown, with opportunities to work various shift patterns.

​

  • Weekday nightshift rate of £15.66*

  • Weekend dayshift rate £17.04*

  • Weekend nightshift rate £18.50*

  • Night Out Payment £26.20 (non-taxable) per night

*Rates are inclusive of £1.50 taxable meal rate/£1 non-taxable meal rate (where applicable).

*Driver Efficiency Bonus Scheme: Earn up to £1,500 per annum (full-time equivalent)

 

Responsibilities

  • Delivering a professional and efficient driving service within our General Haulage or Milk Reload teams, undertaking deliveries and collections of products on behalf of Wm Armstrong Group.

  • All duties associated with being a professional driver.

  • Loading/Unloading and securing loads.

  • Safely operate Class 1 or Class 2 milk tanker vehicles, delivering bulk milk to dairies on behalf of our customers.

  • Follow all procedures for milk collection, delivery, and handling and carry out required sampling, checks, and food safety procedures

  • Dealing with customers face to face.

  • Keeping in regular contact with transport office team for updates on progress and managing customer’s expectations.

  • Cross cover of work within other areas of the business as required. 

 

Requirements

  • Hold a valid UK Class 1 licence.

  • Hold a current DCPC card and digital tachograph card.

  • Experience and knowledge of the general haulage or milk industries is preferred, but not essential.

  • Ability to work unsupervised, or as part of a wider team, and be able to use your own initiative

 

To be successful in this role you will be a real team player, demonstrating excellent customer service skills and good geographical knowledge.
