Semi Skilled HGV Vehicle Technician - AVC Longtown

We are looking for a motivated and dependable Semi-Skilled HGV Technician to join our busy and growing workshop team at Longtown. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with hands-on mechanical experience who is keen to develop their skills in the HGV and commercial vehicle sector.

​

Working alongside experienced, fully qualified technicians, you will gain valuable knowledge and play a key supporting role in ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and performance standards.

​

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the servicing, maintenance, and repair of HGVs and trailers

  • Support qualified technicians with inspections, diagnostics, and fault finding

  • Carry out basic mechanical repairs and parts replacements under supervision

  • Prepare vehicles for MOT/ATF testing

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with safety regulations and company standards

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment

  • Use tools and equipment responsibly and effectively

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn. You’ll be a team player who takes pride in their work and is keen to develop a long-term career in the commercial vehicle industry.

Essential / Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Previous workshop or mechanical experience (preferred)

  • Basic knowledge or interest in HGVs / commercial vehicles

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Good attention to detail and a proactive attitude

  • Full UK driving licence (preferred)

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay from £16.00 per hour, dependent on experience.

  • 42.5 hours per week Monday – Friday, working dayshift and backshift hours, with Saturday mornings based on a rota.

  • 30 days annual leave, with additional days awarded each year up to a maximum of 33
